Gregory Kiprono: HKVC Homegrown Talent Graduates as Prisons Officer
RUIRU, KENYA – The air at the Prisons Staff Training College (PSTC) in Ruiru was thick with pride and tradition today as H.E. President William Ruto presided over the graduation of 3,862 new Prisons officers. Amidst the sea of disciplined ranks and colorful displays, Highrise Volleyball Club (HVCK) is bursting with pride to announce that one of our very own, Gregory Kiprono, has officially joined the ranks of Kenya’s Correctional Service.
A Landmark Day for Kenya’s Security Sector
The 2026 Pass Out Parade marks a significant milestone in strengthening Kenya's security and correctional infrastructure. In his address to the graduates, President Ruto emphasized the government's commitment to modernizing the Kenya Prisons Service and improving the welfare of officers who dedicate their lives to the rehabilitation of offenders and the safety of the nation.

For the 3,862 graduates, today is the culmination of months of rigorous physical, mental, and tactical training. For Gregory Kiprono, it is the beginning of a new chapter where the discipline of an elite athlete meets the duty of a public servant.
Gregory Kiprono: An "Elite Impact" Success Story
At Highrise VC, our mission has always been about more than just winning sets; it’s about "elevating Kenyan youth through elite training and community impact." Gregory’s journey from the volleyball courts of Highrise Estate to the parade grounds of Ruiru embodies our club’s spirit.
"Gregory has always shown the leadership and resilience required of a top-tier athlete," said a club spokesperson. "We have no doubt that the same 'never-say-die' attitude he brought to our matches will make him an exemplary officer in the Correctional Service."
Why This Matters for the Highrise Community
Gregory’s success serves as a powerful inspiration for our Junior Team and youth players in Kibera and Soweto. It proves that sports can be a gateway to professional careers and national service. As we continue to foster "peaceful co-existence" and "meaningful youth empowerment" through volleyball, Gregory stands as a beacon of what is possible when talent meets opportunity.
Join the Celebration
We invite the entire Highrise Volleyball family and the Kenyan sports community to join us in wishing Officer Gregory Kiprono a distinguished and safe career.
As he steps into his new role, we remain committed to our motto: #WeRiseTogether.
